ABOUT ME

A brief history of how I became a Celebrant...
A Celebrant in the Sussex area, I am a member of
The Fellowship of Independent Celebrants. Back in my early adult years, living on the beautiful Northumbrian coast where I grew up, I was heavily involved in community work and really felt at home helping folk when they needed it. Spring forward a year or two (many, actually) and the move to beautiful Sussex in 1992.
I continued with my community work and eventually became a Funeral Director, another position that gave comfort to families in their hour of need.
Being a Funeral Director is a rewarding job that needs dedication, attention to detail and real compassion. I honed what skills I learnt and in 2017 I decided to become a Celebrant. It has become my vocation and I have never looked back.
I love living in the East Sussex area. I often go rambling on the Downs. I see so many places on my travels in East and West Sussex that are gems and I want to go back to. So many places to walk and relax. It's a truly wonderful area. I quite often return to the beaches of Northumberland and once a year go hill walking in the UK for a holiday. The Lake District being my favourite.
In the winter months there is nothing better than a good book to read. I like all sorts of genres, travel, historical novels, non fiction or good fiction.
I have always considered myself to be a caring person with my feet firmly on the ground, as they say. My main focus is to help people as much as I can. This has been an invisible thread in my life and I consider it a privilege to do so.

TESTIMONIALS
We honestly can't thank you enough, you really did help make mum's send off so lovely. It was our hardest day but you really did ensure our dad was comforted as best he could be, and made us keep our strength to say our goodbyes.

Thank you for leading the service at the Shoreham chapel on Friday. It was just how my father would have wished it and everyone was very complimentary about the service, the venue and the good memories that were evoked about my father's life.

We as a family would like to thank you for the service you did for my father. The day was beautiful and so many happy memories shared. You would be exactly who my dad would have picked if he had the choice.

I just wanted to say thank you very much for everything last week at my father's funeral; it was a great relief for me and my family... Your assistance and kind words took the pressure off us all and helped us to get through the day with our own personal thoughts and not to worry of what to do next.

A big thank you for your very professional and supportive part as celebrant at my brother John's funeral this week. You found the right tone when reading for me and made us all feel as comforted as possible. I liked the words you spoke at the summing up about the tree of life. Perfect.

What a perfect service. Thank you so much for bringing your warmth and magic touch. Everyone has said it was the best ceremony they'd been to. Many different faiths were there... I'm very appreciative and feel at peace that Mum will approve.

We would like to give you a big thank you for the superb job you did at Mum's service. Your wording was personal but professional, and everyone commented that it was the best service that they have been to. You were warm, friendly and articulate. You went over and above to accommodate us in every way and we very much appreciate it. You bought a shining light to a dim lit room and you helped us to give Mum the best send off we could have wished for.
